Radboud University is a public research university located in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. The university bears the name of Saint Radboud, a 9th century Dutch bishop who was known for his intellect and support of the underprivileged. Radboud University is a general university in The Netherlands, active in almost all scientific fields, and one of the leading universities worldwide.
A 4-year PhD position is available in my group at Radboud University in Nijmegen (the Netherlands) to theoretically study ultracold molecules.
Ultracold molecules can be a platform for new quantum technologies.
The realization of these applications has long been limited by fast losses in collisions between molecules.
We are making rapid progress to control collisions and limit these losses, bringing these applications within reach.
This makes it an exciting time to further develop the necessary tools, such as the ability to control interactions between molecules using external fields.
During your PhD here, you will develop theoretical methods to compute interactions between molecules, and find out how these can be controlled using external fields -- enabling applications such as quantum simulation. To study collisions between molecules, we use quantum mechanical coupled-channels calculations using computer code developed in my group. You will work together closely with experimental collaborators in Nijmegen as well as internationally.

• Affinity for molecular physics
• Programming experience is a plus
The starting date is completely negotiable.
