Massey University (Māori: Te Kunenga ki Pūrehuroa) is a university based in Palmerston North, New Zealand, with significant campuses in Albany and Wellington. Massey University has approximately 30,883 students, 13,796 of whom are extramural or distance-learning students, making it New Zealand's second largest university when not counting international students. Research is undertaken on all three campuses, and more than 3,000 international students from over 100 countries study at the university.[5] Massey University is the only university in New Zealand offering degrees in aviation, dispute resolution, veterinary medicine, and nanoscience. Massey's veterinary school is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and is recognised in the United States, Australia, Canada, and Britain. Massey's agriculture programme is the highest-ranked in New Zealand, and 19th in Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS) world university subject rankings.[6] Massey's Bachelor of Aviation (Air Transport Pilot) is an internationally recognised and accredited qualification, is the first non-engineering degree to be recognised by the Royal Aeronautical Society (1998), and has ISO9001-2000 accreditation.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for candidates who are enrolling in the research component of a Massey University master’s degree. Applicant’s may be domestic or international students.

What you’ll be studying

This is a postgraduate scholarship. You will have completed the course component of your master’s degree and be entering into the research component. You may apply for a Massey University Master’s Research Scholarship, a Massey University Māori Master’s Research Scholarship, or a Massey University Pacific Master’s Research Scholarship.

Eligibility criteria

You must:

• be enrolling full time or part time in a 90 credit or more research component of a master’s degree with a start date which aligns with the scholarship closing date as per the scholarship regulations.

There are two selection rounds annually for the Massey University Master’s Research Scholarship, closing at the start of semester 1 and closing at the start of semester 2.

Application checklist

Include the following with your application:

• a statement from your primary supervisor commenting on your quality and capability as a researcher (one page maximum)
• a research proposal highlighting the relevance and alignment of your research with the College and University strategy. You should consult with your supervisor for guidance on these strategies (one page maximum)

Selection considerations

When choosing our recipient, we will consider your academic achievements in the course component of your master’s degree. We will also consider your supervisor’s evaluation and the alignment of your research with the University strategy.
